Surely there is some sane middle road between the unwise policy of running an obsoleted kernel with known issues, or going to a development kernel - have you considered running the current redhat kernel?

Heh, I can't think of a kernel that doesn't have "known issues". The question is if these issues are relevant to the user or not.
