[root@xxx root]# uname -a
Linux www 2.4.20-19.9 #1 Tue Jul 15 17:18:13 EDT 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Forced to reboot yesterday due to power failure. Found this in my logs:

Aug 3 11:17:11 www modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module sound-service-0-3
Aug 3 11:57:55 www modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-13-0
Aug 3 11:58:26 www last message repeated 2 times
Aug 3 11:59:29 www last message repeated 4 times
Aug 3 12:00:30 www last message repeated 138 times
Aug 3 12:01:24 www last message repeated 94 times

...

Aug 3 12:22:01 www last message repeated 169 times
Aug 3 12:23:02 www last message repeated 127 times
Aug 3 12:39:31 www last message repeated 89 times

I also notice that several errors occurred the day before. I installed mplayer
and all its hundred components, so maybe it was related to that? I also
upgraded to Mozilla 1.4, but am not quite sure of the timing.

I changed /etc/modules.conf to be:

alias eth0 dmfe
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
alias sound-service-1-0 off
alias sound-slot-1 off
alias char-major-13-0 off
alias sound-service-0-3 off
alias sound-slot-0 cmpci
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null
2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1
|| :

I looked on google and found a few references, but nothing that would seem to
help.

Everything seems to be working, so I guess it is OK to:
alias char-major-13-0 off
alias sound-service-0-3 off
