Squid & Blocking Sites

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

I have quite a bit lined up today.

Next order of business is getting squid configured better on the
network. I'm up in arms about having it work where the users have to
input a username and password, or whether to just let it run
automatically and I'll just track the sites they visit and let the
Executive Director sort out who was on what computer when.

I'm sure someone, or most of you on this list use squid in some capacity
to audit where the users on the network go, as well as hopefully block
access to certain websites. I've had a request to try and block a few of
the web based email sites like hotmail and yahoomail because the
employees are spending a good deal of time socializing instead of
working.

I found a few helpful places to start, one was a porn blocker that I
thought I could use and add the other sites I want to block to the list,
but I'm having a little trouble getting it to work. It does not seem to
block the sites. Also, I set up the transparent proxy so that I can use
the squid logs to make this work.

http://web.onda.com.br/orso/ is a site I tried to get the porn blocking
to work. Does anyone have a little time to help me with this?

Thanks,
