2.6.0-test1 configuration issues

i installed the 2.6.0 test kernel on my laptop a dell inspiron 4150 and have
done a little testing so far i have reconfigured and rebuilt the kernel.
just to get a few things working

to get pcmcia to work i had to add isa support to the kernel. without this it
detected the existance of my wireless nic but couldnt bring it up if i
issued ifup eth1 it just came straight back to the command prompt with isa
support it set the wireless settings and searched for a ip address i.e.
worked as expected

to get sound to work i had to build in the alsa core module rather than have
it as a module the sound card modules would not modprobe without this

to get my mouse to work i had to build in event support and psmouse support.
also needed to build the synaptics module for X and reconfigure X i would be
intrested to know what device people are needing to use for there mouse as i
am using /dev/input/event1 i know that one other user had /dev/input/event0
this could become a confusing thing for x setup if it is inconsistent.

i just thought i would get these out there and to offer some tips for people
haveing troubles getting it to work.
