Then I install KDE. No, not the crippled Red Hat one, but one from kde-redhat.sf.net which is built with MP3 and video playback support (via Xine).
Both of those features disqualify KDE as Free Software, and would prevent Red Hat Linux from being distributed as such.
Red Hat's employees aren't crippling the software, they're removing the patent-encumbered bits so that they can legally distribute it.
