I believe you'll need the newer LVM2 tools from ftp.sistina.com.  2.5/2.6
did away with API support for LVM1.  However, 2.6 is supposed to be
compatible with LVM1 on-disk structures though.  I haven't tested, having
ditched LVM on all but a single large-scale machine.
