I _did_ select mysql as an install option. And it was installed from the RH CDs.
As Jeremy says, there's lots of good info at mysql.com and google will help too. The last time I set up MySQL was RH 7.2, but I'll be doing it again soon on RH9. With a little luck I'll be able to help -- soon.<g>
