kernel 2.4.20-13.9 refuses to allow installation of nVidia drivers

I've installed the newer kernel using rpm -ivh, rather than -Uvh, so that I
can now select it, in place of the current default
(kernel-2.4.20-8.athlon.rpm). I reverted to the "nv" drivers instead of
"nvidia" in my XF86config, and now I log in at init3, but I still cannot
install the nvidia module by running:
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run.

The installer tells me that no precomplied module for my kernel
(kernel-2.4.20-9.athlon.rpm) can be found. Should I *uninstall*
the nVidia drivers first? There's nothing newer than 4363 on the
nVidia site....
