I need a new v.92 modem.  I wonder if I should buy a USB one?

I see in /boot/config-2.4.20...
CONFIG_USB_ACM=m

Which I guess is what I need, but are the /dev/ entries missing?

from acm.c:
#define ACM_TTY_MAJOR		166
#define ACM_TTY_MINORS		32

So I need a few mknods?
