Not the same problem maybe but I've just spent all day trying to sort
out my PC since upgrading the kernel. It locks up solid. Turns out that
X runs up to 100% cpu and about 270MB of memory(?). If I kill X then I
can at least get in again but can't run anything like evolution - it'll
hang again. I have an nvidia graphics card but found it hung with both
nvidia's driver and the default redhat (nv) one. I've backed out the
kernel to 2.4.20-9 which runs fine - so far...:-)
