It locks up solid. Turns out that X runs up to 100% cpu and about 270MB of memory(?). If I kill X then I can at least get in again but can't run anything like evolution - it'll hang again. I have an nvidia graphics card but found it hung with both nvidia's driver and the default redhat (nv) one.
