The HD can't go sleep and this consumes energy. :( been there, done that. i *started* one of those threads back on the main RH list. if this is a laptop, are you running the wireless-applet-monitor? that caused my regular, 5-second HD access, although someone else points out that the newer rawhide version solves the problem. rday
