try "man ld", or other ld
documentation.
under tcsh you should set the variable with "setenv
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.19"

Subject: RH 9 Errors
Two questions about new behavior under RH 9:
1. Where
can I find documentation about the environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL? I
have found it necessary to set it to '2.4.19' in order to run some old C
programs.
2. What gnome desktop and init level 5 startup command could
be causing the following errors when logging in as a tcsh user and then
attempting to run a tcsh script:
in the file
'.xsession-errors':
then: no then/endif Option given
which is no longer supported in this version of gnome-
Terminal; you might want to create a profile with the desired
setting, and use the new --window-with-profile option.
at the
command prompt:
then: no then/endif
I have tried deleting
all gnome desktop directories and resource files I could find, but
obviously I haven't found the correct one.
I haven't tried a fresh
install, and I would like to avoid it if possible.
All RH 9 errata have
been applied (including glibc).
Thanks.
