I'm trying to configure sendmail and squirrelmail.
Sendmail's official website does not have a good
example on how to customize sendmail.mc Does anyone
know a good website where I can learn more about
sendmail? can someone send me their sendmail.mc as an
example? I want to know how to have a good sendmail
configuration that will try its best to not allow
spam.. Also, squirrel mail comes with redhat, but I do
know how to make it work. I get this info:

There was an error contacting the mail server.
Contact your administrator for help.

That sounds like perhaps you don't have imap running...

unfortunately I'm the administrator and don't know
what's wrong.

Double-check that you see this:

# chkconfig --list | grep imap
	imap:	on

If you see off, edit /etc/xinetd.d/imap, and change the last line from disable = yes (the default) to disable = no, then restart xinetd.

Sendmail is only for the outgoing portion, the server that squirrelmail needs to initially contact is the imap server.
