Okay, I've been told to put the hex key in that file. I've tried the actually hex key as genereated by iwconfig, no luck. I tried the format xx:xx:xx:foo no luck. I was told to precede it with 0x, no luck.
Here is what my hex key looks like:
KEY='FFFF-FFFF-FF [4]'
The [4] tells iwconfig to use the 4th key (same as my access point). This is a 64/40-bit key. Your key will be longer if you use 128-bit keys. I think the hyphens are optional, but I put them in to make it more readable for me. Iwconfig will treat the key as a hex key unless it is prefixed with 's:'.
The actual key has been changed to protect the innocent.
