I had problems with my cd-rw last night, with it always seeming to be busy, as in the light blinking, and couldn't open it or anything. I rebooted a few times, it was very slow to boot up, either in linux or into XP. This is what I see from my logs this morning.. May 2 23:39:50 bart kernel: hdd: drive not ready for command May 2 23:39:50 bart kernel: hdd: ATAPI reset complete May 2 23:39:50 bart kernel: hdd: status error: status=0x7f { DriveReady DeviceFault SeekComplete DataRequest CorrectedError Index Error } May 2 23:39:50 bart kernel: hdd: status error: error=0x7fIllegalLengthIndication EndOfMedia Aborted Command MediaChangeRequested LastFailedSense 0x07 And these errors as well.. May 2 23:31:25 bart kernel: hdd: irq timeout: status=0x80 { Busy } May 2 23:31:25 bart kernel: hdd: status timeout: status=0x80 { Busy } May 2 23:31:25 bart kernel: hdd: drive not ready for command May 2 23:31:25 bart kernel: hdd: ATAPI reset complete May 2 23:31:30 bart kernel: scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 65, scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Prevent/Allow Medium Removal 00 00 00 01 00 May 2 23:31:30 bart kernel: SCSI host 0 abort (pid 65) timed out - resetting May 2 23:31:30 bart kernel: SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0. Is this a hardware problem or something else, like kernel or something? If kernel or program, should I bugzilla and what component? -- Mike Chambers Madisonville, KY "Hand over the code, and no one gets hurt!"
