It *is* if we rebuild the kernel and set the experimental flag. You will
then see the ACPI section pop up.

However, it didn't work with my new PC - wouldn't power off. Take a look at
ACPI on sourceforge - I used the 2.4.20 patch of 12/12/2002 and it worked
great. Sorted out an invalid acpi signature I had too (in /var/log/dmesg on
booting). My pc now powers off when shutdown.

They also have acpi mailing lists.
