Have you setup up your users as samba users? If you haven't done so yet, try this:
www.webmin.com , it makes these kinds of tasks a cake walk.

I am able to pull up my SMB shares from windows hosts.  I can connect to the SMB shares using the terminal but when I try to use the GUI NADA!  

It looks nice from the screen shots I have seen but I would like to see it in person
