We am using a Linux client agent (uagent-6.6.1-1) to backup Linux systems to an Arcserve 2000 server. The backup client works for Redhat 7.3 ( kernel 2.4.20-18.7smp ) but when I upgraded the box to Redhat 9 ( kernel 2.4.20-9 ) I noticed the following error in the syslog: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jun 00 00:00:00 XXXXX kernel: application bug: asagentd(17386) has SIGCHLD set to SIG_IGN but calls wait(). Jun 00 00:00:00 XXXXX kernel: (see the NOTES section of 'man 2 wait'). Workaround activated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- At this point the backup still worked (except for the syslog entry) but when a newer kernel was used ( 2.4.20-13.9 or 2.4.20-18.9 ) the backup client stopped working completely. Has anyone else seen this problem and if so what was the fix or how did you find the root cause of the problem? Thank You for your help - --- MLS
