Setting up X for two mice

Normally I use external USB mice with my IBM laptop, but I would like to
set up X so it can fall back to the built-in red button PS/2 mouse
whenever I'm in "pick-up-and-go" mode.

There is mention of an AlwaysCore mode for non-USB mice in
/etc/X11/XF86Config. How is this done?
