When you boot, the BIOS should recognize it -

To make sure about the amount the kernel is
seeing, run the "free" command - here is the
output of "free" on my 512 MB workstation

einstein: /home/jjs
(tty/dev/pts/3): bash: 1004 > free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 512964 495908 17056 0 32544 77684
-/+ buffers/cache: 385680 127284
Swap: 522104 0 522104

Hi there - I had a system (RH9) that I installed (the OS) with 256mb of
ram.... I just dropped in another 512mb (2 sticks)... Now I was wondering if
there was something I had to do to get RH to use the new ram? And where can
a person see how much ram is installed on a system?

Thanks!
