Extracting PCMCIA SCSI adapter freezes laptop

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I have:

an IBM Thinkpad T21 laptop with shrike "personal desktop" install
an ADAPTEC 1460B PCMCIA SCSI adapter, connecting the laptop to:

      an external SCSI JAZ drive
      an UMAX ASTRA 610S scanner

When I insert the card, everything is recognized, I can scan and mount
the JAZ drive. When XSane is closed and the drive not mounted,
however, extracting the SCSI adapter freezes the system. Only power
down brings it back. I'm sure that I'm overlooking something stupid,
but can this be avoided? What should I do before removing the adapter?

    TIA,
	Marco Fioretti
