No they would be kept alive by speculation.  Just like for over 70 years
there has been market for the bonds issued by Czarist Russia (disowned
by the Soviets) as people waited for these bonds being refunded. 
Fianlly they got sums who had been unadjusted for inflation....

Now when you say that IBM uses to terminate with extreme prejudice those
who sue them I dream of black cars stopping in front of SCO offices. 
Black-clad men pour out of those cars.  They draw assault rifles from
under their overcoats and start shooting.
