I finally determined that the error was (EE) i810: Failed to load module "ddc" (module does not exist (0) I checked my XF86Config and could find nothing even erferring to this moduel. I went to #xfree86 on freenode and someone told me to find libddc.a which was nowhere to be found. (input/output error when checking the directory in which they were to reside... So I reloaded the modules from the RH CDs and I am back up and running.
