I'm currently accessing shrike-list with evolution 1.2.2-5 from
RedhHat-9 - and it appears to preserve threads.. I haven't done any 
special configuration - just filter the incoming mail using a
'mailing-list rule' to a different folder..

I think this mail should preserve the thread.. (will check the
web-archives again)
