Currently, you don't, to the best of my knowledge. The open-source XFree86 'radeon' driver doesn't support 3D on the 9700 (or 9800). I believe you'll have to wait for ATI to update their closed-source binary 'fglrx' kernel drivers to work with XFree86 4.3+. They currently only work with 4.1.x and 4.2.x.


I keep checking here on a regular basis (I've got a Radeon 9000 Pro, so the radeon driver works for 3D, but I want to try ATI's driver also):
