It appears, though, that I am not the only one with an athlon system who is reporting odd behavoir. I wonder if it is an incompatibility
with Shrike and AMD Athlons in general?
You're lucky that you can run Shrike at all; I couldn't even update my Phoebe installation to Shrike since the installer (Anaconda?) tries to format my Software RAID level 5 array :-(
