Here's HOWTO get back mp3 support in RH 9: 1) GOTO http://www.mpg123.de The rpm packages are here: http://www.mpg123.de/cgi-bin/sitexplorer.cgi?/mpg123/precompiled/ download and install: mpg123-0.59q-1.i386.rpm OR mpg123-0.59q.3dnow-1.i386.rpm This will restore the ability to play mp3 files by simply _placing_ the mouse pointer on them (in Nautilus / Gnome *only*). You won't be able to *preview* sound files this way in KDE. (See NOTE below). 2) GOTO http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html download and install: xmms-1.2.7-22.i386.rpm xmms-mp3-1.2.7-22.i386.rpm xmms-skins-1.2.7-22.i386.rpm This will restore the ability to load mp3 in xmms, and in the playlist and display information (track name, artist). NOTE: When in the KDE desktop, you will STILL be unable to play mp3 files with Noatun or Kaboodle. Instead, use either xmms or Xine. cheers, Elton ;-) -- http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/stats/team/team_4504.html "You only live once, so let's make life EASIER for each other."
