HPT302 (Rocket133) Issues

I just built a brand new RedHat 9 box with LVM on top of RAID-1. All
appeared to be well until I noticed that my drive geometry wasn't
looking quite right. I have a Rocket133 controller card and it is
appears to be displaying my drives geometry differently than the
motherboards onboard controller. Basically, I have three hard drives in
the system as follows:
/dev/hda - WDC WD800JB-00CRA1 9729/255/63 80GB MB primary channel
/dev/hde - Maxtor 6E040L0 4998/255/63 40GB HPT primary channel
/dev/hdg - WDC WD800JB-00CRA1 155061/16/63 80GB HPT secondary channel

Notice that the two identical Western Digital drives are showing with
different geometry. The first drive is connected to the motherboard
controller (Asus P4PE) and the second and third drives are connected to
the Rocket133 (HPT302) controller.

Why is the second WD drive showing with 16 heads instead of 255 like all
of my other drives? Something seemed a bit strange. So, I started to
try to install the Highpoint drivers instead of the standard drivers.
Unfortunately, they won't compile because they provide a pre-compiled
hpt302lib.o file that was compiled with gcc version 2.

Any thoughts on how one might find a solution to this problem?

Thanks,
