Asus P4 motherboard

I've been trying to install RH9 on my system, which has an Asus P4B533
mboard with a P4 2.43 cpu and 1 gig of memory. Please note that I am
able to successfully install Redhat 8.0 on this system.

In trying to install, I get a kernel panic when the install kernel is
loading. I don't have the output in front of me, but it's essentially:

RAMDISK
invalid compression
Kernel panic:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on xx:xx

Now, I've been snooping around and I've found posts of similar problems
going back to RH 5.1(!) with the same errors on install attempt, and
despite the constant suggestions to re-download or re-burn the ISO(I've
done both, btw :) ), the problem is consistent. It appears to be
related to a kernel incompatibility with a motherboard - or at least
with certain BIOS settings in an mboard. I'm currently suspecting
that's the trouble, which is a shame since the kernel that shipped with
RH8.0 is fine on my machine. :(

I tried turning off power management and the anti-virus monitor in the
BIOS - no difference. I can't find anything else in there that might
affect this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions, experiences or
otherwise to share?

	Thanks in advance...

	J.C.
