strange mouse cursor behaviour, can anyone confirm

I am using mutt in xterm with reverse video enabled.
Everytime I move the mouse pointer into this window it
changes into a little white hand and this behaviour
continues when I move it out of the window.

I have to open a new window and enter the new window with the
pointer to get it to change back to the default arrow.

Year after year, the US has gone to elaborate lengths, spent enormous
sums, taken great risks to build and keep weapons of mass destruction.
But why? The only possible explanation, the only possible use it could
have for those weapons, is to dominate, intimidate, or attack.
