Okay, got the sound problem worked out. Now RealAudio doesn't work. It
worked fine under 8.0 but is DOA with the upgrade to 9.0. By exporting
the LD_ASSUME I can get the player to run, but Mozilla won't launch it via a link even though the configuration (applications) is identical.
Anything special that I should be looking at?
Thanks.
I left Real audio 8 installed. Then I installed Realaudio 9. When the browser opened up and asked me if I wanted to save the file to disk, choose an alternate application or open with realplayer 8. I chose the different application, real audio 9, which was installed under my home directory.
Then, every time that I launched a real media file, real audio 9 was the application. I just clicked the link and real audio 9 launched. Other than the lime green, it works pretty good with the changes in RH 9. No LD_ASSUME needed.
There is a flaw with the version of real audio 9, that I installed. It had all of the files set to executables. I changed the permissions on most of them to 644. They worked with the different file mode.
