I installed the Mozilla.org rpms.
$ rpm -q mozilla
mozilla-1.3-0_rh8_xft

The mozilla.org 1.3 version requires the ns610-gcc32 plugin. It works fine

ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so\
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
