yup, i posted about that recently. did that posting not make it out
to this list?

in a nutshell, after installing on my inspiron 8100, everything
worked fine -- my pcmcia linksys net card did what it was supposed
to, etc.

however, when i rebuilt a kernel from the 2.4.20-8 source, and
rebooted under that new kernel, all pcmcia was non-functional.
there were no pcmcia modules loaded, no cardmgr, no mention of
pcmcia in /proc/devices, etc.

it sounds a lot like what's in bug 81282 at bugzilla,

 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=81282

that bug suggests you try to insmod a number of modules
manually. i haven't had a chance to try that yet, but yes,
there are *clearly* problems with pcmcia.

rday

p.s. my pcmcia worked fine out of the box since i did a
CD-ROM install. from what i read in that bugzilla report,
if you do a pcmcia-based install, you may not have pcmcia
at all from the get-go.
