Re: VIA C3 now categorized as i686?

Correct, as far as I can tell this is true. uname -p shows i686, rhn
shows it as an i686 and that the i686 kernel is installed.

I could be wrong, but when the box was on 8, I thought it used the i586
kernel. I haven't seen any ill effects so far. 

Maybe something has changed in the kernel or gcc and the Via C3 really
is i686 architecture?
