The lockup doesn't have to occur immediately upon starting a particular screensaver. On another chipset (Savage4) until the driver was fixed I always got a lockup after a short period of time with a particular screensaver (blaster). Like you there was _nothing_ that I could do except reboot. It was a complete freeze. My workaround was, similar to what was suggested by Jared, to disable that particular screensaver. Oisin Feeley
