Freak'n A!  Forgive me Google for not turning to you!  Phoebe loads fine now.  Big freak'n slap on the freak'n forhead. 8 hours down the toilet.

on my  SK41G box kernel 2.4 froze before booting as long as I had no
PS/2 mouse attached to it.
The final way to get rid of the problem was to enable USB mouse support in
BIOS settings. After this the system booted fine without any mouse attached
at all.
