So if I'm not going to run a desktop on a server, just want to forward X to my remote desktop, all I need is XFree86-libs (and dependencies)? Cool!
Actually, if you want to use X11 forwarding over SSH, you'll need to install XFree86 and dependencies, as well. The xauth tool wasn't (IIRC) separated until Shrike, and is required for X11 authentication spoofing.
