I'm somewhat experienced with networking but have run out of ideas
with this.
Please bare with the onslaught of data:
A quick picture:
I'll just use the last to octets of ip numbers since they all start

The four boxes in a row on the local side work fine with the
exception of M2 They are M1 obsd M2 linux M3 linux M4 solaris X86
M5 is a sort of router too its IPMASQUERADING for the other 4.
(running RH 7.1 and masquerading with iptables)
The mechanical setup really isn't in doubt. 3 of the 4 work.
All four share the same or similar /etc/resolv.conf /etc/hosts
All local addressing is static. The router pulls down an address
from cable modem via dhcp (cox hookup)
I've checked and rechecked my cables and the ports on the hub.
Using several of each.
Now the data:

Shows me 5 oks
Still with all that in place the questionable box can't see any of
the others on the hub, not to mention the routers or internet.
Whereas the other 3 can. With very similar reading and settings.
I'm mailing this from M1 thru the linux router, hardware router and
cable modem.
