Keep the orig in place, and run:

rpmbuild --rebuild AAA-123.src.rpm

It will build a binary rpm, and then you can do:

rpm -Uvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/AAA-123.i386.rpm

It'll upgrade.
