Old software is not kept.  When updating software, -Uvh is used, and it 
overwrites the old files with new files.

You can rpm -e the kernel versions you don't want anymore.  I usually keep 
atleast one old working kernel though.

rpm -e kernel-version  || rpm -e kernel-smp-version || rpm -e 
kernel-bigmem-version
