-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello psyche-list, We recently decided to put all of our home directories on a central server and share them using NFS and automount on the other Linux boxes in our office. All of these are RH 8.0 with current (as of 3/6/2003) fixes. We are not using NIS, as there are only a handful of IDs to keep track of, and it is pretty easy to make sure that the UIDs and GIDs match across the small number of systems we have. On one of the "other" Linux boxes, one of the user IDs has special duties and needs special additional files that are not needed by that ID on any other host. So, it seemed to us that the simplest approach was to change this host's /etc/passwd entry for the user to make its home directory be /lhome/user, rather than /home/user. Mostly, this seems to work just fine. However, Gnome insists on starting up in /home/user (which still exists, automounted from the home directory server). The Gnome GUI filesystem browser starts up in /home/user. Any terminal windows started, start in /home/user. However, at one of these shell prompts, one can type the command "cd" and gets taken directly to /lhome/user. How do I convince Gnome to put itself into the user's home directory? Thanks! Ron. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP Personal Privacy 6.5.8 Comment: Until recently, the last PGP with full source disclosure. iQA/AwUBPmj+/G8pw+2/9pUJEQKoDQCfX7YgLvCqoc5eLfZB21dPGhROCf0AoPrH 5nksaRF081CkJr/txdWpWLrQ =yQUR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Psyche-list mailing list Psyche-list@redhat.com https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list
