Hi,

I am using an Inspiron 8100 using a Firewire Disk. Actually it works in
my case.
I boot up my machine.
I turn on the disk
I mount it.

I always turn on the harddisk after bootup.

Can you check in your /var/log/messages what happens when you turn on
your Firewire Disk? It should automatically load sbp2 and detect the
partitions.

Cheers,

Ralf
