I have an interesting new problem that I can't, for the life of me, figure out what is going on. This started a couple of weeks ago, but I'm just now getting around to really looking at it. I am having some issues with my /var mount point/filesystem. When I try to run an application that needs to create a .pid file in the /var/lock directory, I get the following: [root@sbbs root]# autodld Fatal: Could not create the lock file: /var/lock/autoupdate.pid (No space left on device) [root@sbbs root]# When I do a check to see how much free space I ahve on my various mount points/file systems I get the following: [root@sbbs var]# df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/hda9 256667 72666 170749 30% / /dev/hda1 256667 13403 230012 6% /boot /dev/hda3 1264952 122708 1077984 11% /home none 95380 0 95380 0% /dev/shm /dev/hdb1 8119744 86396 7620884 2% /sbbs /dev/hda8 256667 8245 235170 4% /tmp /dev/hda6 1264920 574792 625872 48% /usr /dev/hda5 1264920 145652 1055012 13% /usr/local /dev/hda2 1264952 756256 444436 63% /var [root@sbbs var]# As you can see by the fd, it isn't full like the error message shows. When I go into the /var directory and try to create a test file in vi, I get the following error: "test" "test" E212: Can't open file for writing Hit ENTER or type command to continue When I look to ensure that root has the rights to write to the file system with an ls -la I get the following: drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 4096 Nov 27 20:14 var Anyone have any ideas as to what the heck is going on, and/or where I can look for clues as to what is going on? This is the first time I've seen this. Thank you for any help you can give me. -- Psyche-list mailing list Psyche-list@redhat.com https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list
