Ahhh I see now. Thanks Jesse :-) The order is the key!!! You need to run the
app calls before the call to the WM last. Mine was the other way around
originally. Calling exec fluxbox first and the app calls after. Thanks, you
pointed me in the right direction.

Sure it does.  Here is my ~/.Xclients-default file
/usr/bin/sim &
kopete &
kmail &
/opt/phoenix/phoenix &
xscreensaver -no-splash &
exec fluxbox

All of the above things will launch once fluxbox is up and running.
