but by any mean, the better place is a file located in your home directory.

(if you havent, which I doubt since it seems you already have, read through your
startx script to see which files from home directory are appended)


Anyway, remember to start your apps like
app1&
app2&
app3&
last_ap

so that the X session wont end until last_ap ends.
