If I digit smb: in the command line I get the message:I had a very similar problem, all forms of smb: or smb:/// or whatever
Nautilus can't display smb:///
But if I digit smb://192.168.0.40 I get shares displayed in Nautilus window.
Any suggestion to a newbie of Samba???
resulted in a similar error message (whereas the full name or ip address
worked, as in your example). So I analysed my iptables logs and found
that I wasn't quite accepting all the correct ports. I opened some more
and it worked. So check your firewall.
I am really a newbie...I should have figured that way, as from other machines not behind firewall smb: worked.
I have to check which ports are to be opened, but this is another job of mine.
Tnx again
Antonio
