I should hope not.  You need to edit /etc/grub.conf to tell it to use
the MBR (check the docs, I don't remember exactly how to do this off
the top of my head), and then run grub-install.  I /think/ you just
need to run it like this:

  # grub-install hd0

But it's been a long time since I last had to do this, so I don't
really remember...
