To configure netfilter firewalling try Shorewall: http://www.shorewall.net/ http://www.shorewall.net/PPTP.htm For vpn you will probably want Ipsec or PPTP. http://www.freeswan.org/ http://www.poptop.org/ I've nver used poptop but the IPSEC works well between Linux boxes and between Linux and Checkpoint.
