This is what I want to set-up but need some advise please.

Replace me existing firewall with a redhat based pc.

I then want to allow all my LAN based pc’s access to the internet via the Redhat box (securely)

Provide a proxy to cache frequently used sites & information.

Allow inbound inbound access on smtp port 25 to my mailserver
Allow inbound inbound access on sslo port 443 & 80 to my web server
Allow windows based laptops access to the LAN via vpn across the internet.

I am an absolute learner so please bear with me… I know how to do this on W2K but want to play with the Linux alternative…
