But yet you state that the first entry is without using the smarthost directive. The first entry is just the from portion. Delivery has not occurred yet. Where is the error/DSN for the actual delivery? I don't see one. Or should this be a local delivery? To answer your first post... If your ISP is not blocking inbound or outbound smtp requests (except to their smtp server), then all you should have to do is remove the SMART_HOST feature in your sendmail.mc file to make your MTA deliver to other MTA's directly.
